1,000 Miles To Go, & The Surprise Prize.

20160616_094442So Here we are with the moment of triumph right around the corner. Giddy? Mmmm, YES.

I’m week three into bachelorhood, & it has not been fun, or kind. Princess & Little Man will be heading home around July 1st I’m told. Or, when the money runs out. I’m having to relearn some things. For example, when steaming broccoli for dinner, remember to dump the water and clean the pan right away. (or at least rinse it out for the love of God). I started coming home and noticing a not too pleasant smell. After the 2nd day I decided to track it down because it smelled kinda like gas, but not really. The only gas in the house is the water heater & furnace. So there are no gas lines running anywhere in the house except for the garage. I only smelled it in the kitchen, & traced it down to the stove (which is electric). Thought maybe a mouse died behind the stove or something. It was really quite bad. When I pulled the stove out to look behind it, is when I heard water sloshing and the odor got noticeably stronger.

There it was, the steam pot I used 5 days ago with the broccoli water still in it. When I took the top off…well, lets just say I won’t be eating broccoli again anytime soon. So I did what needed to be done.  I took it outside, dumped the water. Then I shot it twice and burned it. The Princess may not be happy about it, but it had to be done. As birds dropped from the sky overhead, I ran back inside to barricade the door.

I am happy to report that the Honey-Do list is rapidly diminishing. It’s likey the main thing keeping me sane these last 3 weeks.

So, if you guys follow me on Facebook or Instagram, You know that Tyson of Drivetofive & Jason of Drivenfordrives, got me this gift…IMG_20160602_210452It’s about 12.5 inches long by 11 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall. It weighs about 4 lbs & is NOT TAPED CLOSED! So they must trust me to comply to the insanity of waiting to hit 500k to open. Tyson & Jason will be happy to know that I have been a good boy (Mommy raised me right) & I have not even peaked inside. It’s currently sitting in the trunk waiting to be opened when the appropriate time has arrived. I’ve spent many of miles pondering what it could be…

Since Tyson is the main reason I started blogging my journey in the first place, I’ve been giving him daily reports on the last 1,000 miles & guessing what day I’ll hit the big 500. Here’s an example of the kind of exchanges we have discussing this stuff…SmartSelectImage_2016-06-17-14-54-25

  • I use talk to text a lot, so forgive the typos for it was not me… it was the one armed man.

I have a couple of long distance assignments, so I could be hitting the 500k mark in a matter of days IF, I get mileage approval for the jobs. I’m thinking it will be this week for sure.

Less than 1,000 miles to go friends! Needless to say, I’ll be keeping an Eagle Eye out for any late model Mustangs… You know those guys love to run into crap.

See you again real soon for the big write up!

At this point, starting off down a busy road must be an anxiety rush…

All I can say is watch out, and use cat-like reflexes!!!

I literally cannot wait for 500K, but Tyson’s surprise might be what’s got me the most fascinated in a way…

Be careful, be careful, be careful….

    Best of luck!!!

Ha, YES! The wife stopped driving the car 4,000 miles ago for the same reason. As for the box, well, I know it’s not a new car. Or a Million dollars in cash. I’ll get to open it in less than 600 miles. Thanks Midnight!

I can’t believe it’s happening THIS VERY WEEK! I’m glad I will be able to participate in some fashion via the Surprise Prize and I am especially excited to see the results of your impeccably choreographed audio visual plans for documenting the moment. Onward!!!
